Plain-language summary of what we collect and why. Last updated 3 August 2026.
Who we are
Argue Better (arguebetter.co) is operated by Avery J. Parker. Contact: hello@arguebetter.co.
What we collect
- Email address — only if you subscribe to the newsletter, notify list, or cheat-sheet download. This is for adults (parents, teachers, and other readers 13+).
- Site analytics — page views and which tools were opened (not the text of your answers). May include IP address, browser type, and referrer for security and statistics.
- Session cookies — needed for form security (CSRF) and to remember quiz progress during a practice round.
What we do not store
Exercise answers and free-text you type into practice tools are used to show your result on that page. We do not save that exercise text in our database. The 30-day practice checklist saves only in your own browser (local storage).
Why we collect email
To send practice prompts, launch news for the books, and deliver optional downloads such as the fallacy cheat sheet. You can unsubscribe anytime via the link in each email.
Who we share with
Email may be processed by our email provider (MailerLite) to deliver messages. Hosting and analytics providers process technical logs. We do not sell your email address.
How long we keep data
Newsletter emails are kept until you unsubscribe or request deletion. Analytics logs are retained for site operation and may be aggregated or deleted on a rolling basis.
Children’s privacy (grades 3–5)
Parts of this site are written for children in grades 3–5 (about ages 8–11). We do not ask children for email addresses on child-directed pages. Newsletter and notify forms on those paths are removed or clearly framed for parents and teachers only, with an adult affirmation where a form remains.
Teachers and parents should use adult email addresses for classroom planning. Students can use the free tools without creating accounts. If you believe we have collected a child’s email in error, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
This policy is meant to support classroom and family use. It is not a substitute for legal advice; school districts may still require their own review before adoption.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe from email using the link in any message.
- Request access or deletion of your email record by writing to hello@arguebetter.co.
- Clear browser storage to remove local 30-day progress and session data.
Changes
We may update this policy; the date above will change when we do. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
